In an appearance this morning on NBCs Meet the Press, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) previewed the partisan vote expected on the Democrats government takeover of health care. Boehner said that the American people want no part of this bill and have soundly rejected the 0 billion in tax increases and over 0 billion in Medicare cuts that will bankrupt our country. Boehner noted that Republicans, all year long, have offered common-sense reforms that will lower health care costs, and said that if this bill ever passes, Republicans will take action to repeal the Democrats government takeover of health care and replace it with real reforms. Lastly, Boehner commented on Republicans efforts to win back the Majority of the House to renew the fight for a smaller, less costly, more accountable government. Very well produced, this is the only one I have I'm afraid. This episode - Cruising the Channels - which includes a short but fab interview with Betty White - The Gay Rodeo - Girls in Boys Bars - HIV & AIDS Health Care Reforms. With an appearance by 'Beverly Hills' legendary drag artist. Also at the end is a separate interview with Julian Clary on a very early Richard & Judy. Julian seems utterly underwhelmed by it all, and R&J are frankly dull, but that's where I taped it, so I left it on ;-) Listen out for Betty White saying "Gay Cult?" You think, what did she just say ;-) I've cleaned it up as much as I can, but it was recorded in LP, never good, and this tape is 23 years old!! Also a lot of it was filmed with a soft focus, which really doesn't help; but you get used to it after a few minutes, and you won't regret watching. Enjoy!

The Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rallies were held in over 160 cities across the country. Ten members of the Humanists of Rhode Island were on hand in Newport to counter protest the rally in Newport. 85 People attended the small gathering in Eisenhower Park at noon and the entire affair lasted for a bout an hour. The speeches were punctuated with brief intervals where copyrighted music was played, so the music has been removed. This rally has nothing to do with REAL religious freedom. What the people at this rally want is nothing less than theocracy, rule by religion, and such ideas must be vigorously opposed. As will be seen by watching this video, fear, paranoia and authoritarianism predominate in the speeches given by the organizers. Though it is claimed that this rally is organized by teens from a local youth ministry, it is clear that this rally was organized by Suzanne Kane with some help from the youths. The vast majority of those in attendance were over fifty years of age, which makes sense because most people are either in work or in school on a Friday afternoon.
